HUNTER-FINSETH FAMILY, DEADWOOD, OREGON Manuscript and photographs, 1915-1932 Typed history of the David Hunter family of Deadwood, Lane County, Oregon. David and Mary Downing Hunter immigrated from Ireland and arrived in Deadwood in 1886. They were one of the first families to settle the area. Their property was located on the West Fork of Deadwood Creek. When Mary died, David married Margaret Graham, also from Ireland. David had 5 living children, and the history also includes information on one of his daughters by Margaret Graham, Mamie Hunter, who married Albert Finseth,originally of Minnesota, in 1917. Ten family photographs are also included in this collection, and most are of the Finseths and their son, Carl. Photographs: 1. David Hunter homestead on West Fork, Deadwood Creek, ca. 1916-1917. Photographer was Albert Finseth, when he was courting Mamie Hunter. Remains of earlier Deadwood Creek forest fire can still be seen; fire occurred before the Hunters settled the property. 2.
