EUGENE CITY TEMPERANCE ALLIANCE INVENTORY AND DESCRIPTION. Pages from a minutes book covering the Alliance's meetings from February 7, 1886 to April 26, 1887. (Entered in the Library of Congress National Union Catalog of Manuscripts - NUCMC - as OCLC 785722629.) Minute book, 1886-1887. The Temperance Alliance was composed of men and women dedicated to abstinence from alcohol. Professor Thomas Condon was an active member. The volume contains minutes of the monthly meetings. The programs consisted of songs, prayers, and speeches on temperance. The Alliance sent pettions on temperance to the Eugene City Council and the State Legislature and checked Eugene City saloons for proper licensing. |
