SAMUEL S. BREWBAKER, I843-1929 Inventory and description. Partial retrieval system to index the Brewbaker letters, developed as a class project by Glenn Mason in 1970. Letters, 1861-1865 Samuel Brewbaker served with Company "C" of the Eighth Michigan Volunteers during the Civil War. He later settled and farmed near Walterville, Oregon. The collection consists of fifty-six detailed letters written by Brewbaker while serving in the Union forces. They discuss daily life in the army, living conditions, battles, and items of general interest to the family of a soldier. Six letters from family members are included. |
