FIRST NATIONAL BANK, EUGENE, OREGON Records, 1898-1984 This is one of several collections of First National Bank records at the Lane County History Museum. First National Bank was one of the most prominent financial institutions in Lane County. Its history involves numerous mergers. It first opened under the First National Bank of Eugene name on March 9th, 1886, when T.G. Hendricks and Stewart Eakin of the Hendricks & Eakin Bank (established Dec. 1st, 1883) obtained a charter for a national bank. In 1908, the Chambers & Bristow Bank merged with it, and in 1954, the bank merged with the First National Bank of Oregon, headquartered in Portland. Lynn McCready retained his position as bank president. In 1981, the bank merged again and became First Interstate of Oregon, and fifteen years later, Wells Fargo took over. This collection contains records, photographs, memorabilia from the bank's 40th and 100th anniversaries, and later material than LCHM collections MS 24 and MS 262, which contain First National Bank records from the late 19th and early to mid-20th centuries.
