SMEEDE HOTEL, EUGENE, OREGON 1885-1971 INVENTORY AND DESCRIPTION (Entered in the Library of Congress National Union Catalog of Manuscripts - NUCMC - as OCLC 801674845.) Records, 1913-1929. Completed in 1885, the Baker Hotel was for many years Eugene City's "first class" hotel. With changes in ownership it became the Hotel Eugene in 1892 and the Smeede Hotel in 1902. The Smeede Hotel is one of the oldest remaining structures in the Eugene business district. Today it serves as an office and commercial building and a historic reminder of Eugene's architectural heritage. The collection consists of cash journals, 1922-1929; payroll ledger, 1922; and miscellaneous ledgers and receipt books, 1913-1929. |
