HARRIS, MADISON CURTIS 1877-1947 INVENTORY AND DESCRIPTION (Entered in Library of Congress National Union Catalog of Manuscripts - NUMC - as OCLC 785902852.) Papers, 1900-1939. Madison Harris was a Eugene dentist. Active in the Lane County Republican Committee, 1926-1934, he served as chairman, 1930-1932. He was a member of the State Board of Dental Examiners, 1933-1937. The collection contains correspondence and financial records relating to Harris' activities in the Lane County Republican Committee, 1926-1934. These include records of the formation of the Eugene Lincoln Club and correspondence concerning Depression issues and the 1932 Republican campaign and strategy. The State Board of Dental Examiners papers include files of state dental license examinations and correspondence concerned with professional practices. The propriety of advertising was a major issue, and there is considerable material concerning improper conduct, particularly on Semler vs. State Board, a case that reached the U.S. Supreme Court. Also included is miscellaneous family and business corespondence. |
