COURT LATTIN COLLECTION Documents, 1904-1937 SCOPE & CONTENT NOTE AND INVENTORY This collection consists of documents and photographs relating to the life and businesses of Mr. Court Lattin, originally of Pleasant Hill, Oregon. Most are dated from 1900 to 1930. They were reportedly found in the walls of a house in Pleasant Hill and rescued before the house was burned. Mr. Lattin was at grade school in Pleasant Hill. Documents from 1920 and 1921 (in his own handwriting) give his residence as Creswell and then Pleasant Hill. He was listed in the 1925 and 1928 Lane County directories as residing at 1387 Onyx Street in Eugene, Oregon. In 1927, his mill's address was on Crow Stage Route near Eugene. In 1934, he was recorded as living (with his wife Bernice) at 1943 West 11th Avenue in Eugene. His occupations were varied - lumberman, mill worker, lab worker - while his wife was a waitress at the Liberty Cafe. The documents in the collection are chiefly related to his lumbering business, including such items as timber and logging contracts, lumber sales, shipping documents and banking transactions. Only the final folder contains personal information. The photographs include one that is probably of Mr. Lattin. |
