LINA K. CHEADLE: LETTER TO RICHARD CHEADLE, 1910. Original handwritten letter from Lina K. Cheadle to her son Richard, describing her journey by horse-drawn buggy from Cascadia in Linn County, Oregon to the town of Sisters, via Fish Lake and Clear Lake at the headwaters of the McKenzie River, and then back to Belknap Hot Springs in Lane County via the "lava road". Cheadle describes their camps, the "breaking in" of their carriage horse, the terrain and the fact that they walked much of the way. Dated August 1910. |
